Project
The project I worked on is an all new FPS game, developed in Unreal Engine 5 with C++. The game is still unannounced and we were working together with a major publisher. The title is a AAA game were I was working as a UI Programmer closely together with the other UI Programmer and the whole UI team consisting of UI/UX Designers and the UI Artists, as well as working with the Gameplay Coders to create UI for new features or improve the UI for existing ones.
Work
- started in October 2024 as an Associate UI Programmer
- working full-time in Galway, Ireland
- complete overhaul of Inventory and Loadout Screen
- owner of various HUD related features
- HUD improvements and adjustments as part of new Control Scheme Overhaul
- implementation of Vendor Screens
- Unreal Engine 5.5 project upgrade UI support
- creating UI that supports KBM and Gamepad controls and platforms such as Windows, XBOX and PS5
- code support for UI Art implementation
- implementing UI based on UX design and mockups
- implementing settings for customizing crosshairs and mouse cursor
- creating an alternative HUD view that displays different information and widgets based on the current activity
- creating a radial selection wheel that allows the player to easily access various actions, such as weapon wheel, flashlight, scanner, etc.
- implementing a system that allows widgets to set up an online dependancy, so they can be disabled remotely and have the UI respond accordingly, e.g. "Feature is currently unavailable"
